When it comes to magnified optics, we all want two things. Good glass and a small footprint. This is a precarious balance, and few companies embrace the idea. Recently, however, Sightmark waded into this arena with a very solid offering. The Strikon VMP 1-4×22.
Strikon VMP 1-4×22 – Compact Performance
First, an explanation of prismatic riflescopes. These optics use a glass prism system in place of the traditional erector-tube configuration found in most rifle scopes. The result is a shorter, more compact optical package that delivers edge-to-edge clarity and reduced distortion. It also provides a bright sight picture, without the bulk of traditional riflescopes. The Strikon VMP brings that technology to shooters at a price point and level of accessibility consistent with Sightmark’s broader product philosophy.

Strikon VMP 1-4×22: Variable Control, Proven Feedback
The Strikon VMP 1-4×22 SFP Fiber Riflescope gives shooters a true 1x sight picture for close-range work. It also offers 4x magnification for better target identification and more precise shots at distance. As a variable-magnification prismatic scope, the VMP covers the full range of engagements most shooters face with a single optic. There is no need for swaps and no compromise.
The VMP uses a second focal plane CRF-4 MIL fiber-wire reticle with red illumination across 11 brightness settings. This includes 9 daylight levels and 2 optimized for use with night vision devices. Shake Awake technology deactivates the optic after 10 minutes of inactivity. It then reactivates at the first detection of movement, preserving battery life without sacrificing readiness. A CR2032 battery powers the illumination system.

Built to Perform in Any Condition
The Strikon VMP is built on 6061 aluminum housings with IP67 waterproof ratings. It also features nitrogen filling for fog resistance and shockproof construction capable of handling real field use. Fully multi-coated lenses support a bright, clear sight-picture across changing lighting conditions. The optic is rated for calibers up to .308, covering the most common rifle platforms in use today.

On the Range
On the range, I found the Strikon VMP to live up to the hype. It is indeed one of the most compact 1-4x optics I have run. The glass was better than the price point would indicate. Manipulations of the magnification control were smooth and instinctive. Overall, I give the Strikon VMP two thumbs up.
