I completely agree with this legend. This is why I scream so loudly about Gunderwear: carrying a firearm now offers a ton more comfort. Now, in this article, I will go through the backstory of how Tyler Abadie, the owner of GUNDERWEAR, came up with this amazing product and his future plans for GUNDERWEAR. The bottom line is going to come to the statement I started this article with. Carrying a firearm every day is not overly pleasant. I have now tested this product. I have worn it during 12-hour drives, I have worn it in speaking engagements, standing on a stage for several hours at a time, and let me tell you, not once in any of those times that I’ve worn this product while carrying my everyday carry , at no time did it feel cumbersome or uncomfortable, in no way distracting. If anything, it did the exact opposite. Very rarely did I even remember that I was carrying
How did GUNDERWEAR start?
Here’s a little backstory on the creator and owner of Gunderwear, Tyler Abadie, in his own words.
Back around 2020, I was doing some security work for individuals and couples in New Orleans—basically walking them around and making sure they didn’t get mugged or anything. I’ve always carried my gun up front in the appendix position, and down here in Louisiana, with the heat, it was constantly aggravating me.

That day, I was sweating and miserable. My gun was stabbing me and rubbing me raw while we walked around all day. Then, when we’d sit down at bars or restaurants, getting up and down as they moved all over town, it would dig into my leg and gut. I figured there had to be a better way. It would’ve been nice to have some kind of padding—like a small pillow—between me and the gun and holster.
Research and Development
I did a bunch of research, but nothing like that existed yet. I tried modifying my holster, and it kind of worked when I was standing or walking. But when I sat down, it still dug into me—underneath and over the top by the beavertail, and along the barrel area. It kept catching my leg and gut, pinching me and making it uncomfortable.

That’s when I thought, man, it’d be great to have something fixed in place—something that wouldn’t move around—so it would work both when I’m standing and sitting. I was already wearing Under Armor underwear that helped with chafing, and I thought, why not just build padding into something like that?
So I made some prototypes. I even had a worldwide patent search done, and no one had invented anything like it yet. From there, I went through the patent process and everything else—and here we are today. I launched it two years ago, and as you’ve seen, it’s taken off. It’s been a great, fun ride.

What would you like to see happen for GUNDERWEAR in the future ?
I’d like to see Gunderwear grow as a brand and expand with a few more products I have in mind. That said, Gunderwear is already such a unique and useful product. I mean, the majority of people wear underwear (I sure hope so—author’s opinion), so if they carry a firearm, it just makes sense—it’s something they could use.
I’d really like to see Gunderwear gain a strong presence within police departments. And of course, getting Gunderwear into the hands of the Department of Defense would be incredible. We already have many people in the FBI and CIA wearing them, but they currently have to purchase the product out of their own pockets. I’d like to see departments and agencies actually making purchases for their operators.

I’m excited that we already have Gunderwear overseas. We’ve shipped to various countries, including Israel, for example. What I’d truly like to see over the next five years is for Gunderwear to grow to the point where everyone knows the brand and has a pair. From local and federal law enforcement to the military and executive protection, to civilians who carry a firearm to protect themselves and others.
In Closing
As you can imagine, when you do a search for this product, there will be many copycats. I’m all for the adage. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” – Oscar Wilde. That being said, you really can’t beat the patented original. Now with complete transparency, I have not tried any of the other copycats or knock-offs, so I cannot honestly say how they work. However, I have worn pairs of Gunderwear and can (and obviously have, as you are reading this article) comment on their comfort and awesome quality.
