Father’s Day is coming up quickly. When asked for gift ideas, many of us dads simply shrug our shoulders. We aren’t looking for any sort of big deal. But this inevitably leads to yet another tie or novelty grill accessory.

I’ve carried several different Swiss Army knives in the last few decades. The Huntsman might just be my very favorite model. The main knife blade, wood saw, and scissors get the most use, but tools like the corkscrew and screwdrivers are always nice to have.

Tuff Possum Gear Bushcraft Belt Pouch

I am admittedly a Tuff Possum Gear fan boy and own a ton of their products. The Bushcraft Belt Pouch is one that gets a lot of use. It’s made from 1000D Cordura nylon, and it’s available in Ranger Green, Coyote Brown, Wolf Gray, or Black. The pouch measures 5 inches by 4 inches by 3 inches. It’s equipped with a YKK zipper with webbing pull tabs on either side. The dual webbing belt loops will accommodate up to a two-inch belt.
I’ve been using one of these Bushcraft Belt Pouches to house my primary fire kit in my main bag for a couple of years. It works very well to keep it all in one place. It would also work well for a small EDC tool kit. It’s available at Tuff Possum Gear for $44.
Night Watch Knives American Pack Knife

This is a newer model for Night Watch Knives. It’s small enough to qualify for a pocket carry fixed blade, though it comes with a belt carry leather sheath. At just 2.5 ounces, it won’t weigh you down no matter how you carry it. It runs 7.0 inches end to end, with a 3.25-inch blade. The Nitro-V blade has a hollow grind and arrives hair-popping sharp.
This is a great-sized knife for EDC. There’s plenty of blade for whatever you run into on the daily without making you look like you’re a Rambo wannabe to your coworkers. Find it at Night Watch Knives for $300.
Streamlight MegaStream HP

There are a few portable illumination companies on the market that are known for reliability, durability, and performance. Streamlight is at the top of that list. I’ve been carrying their lights for nearly 20 years at this point. The MegaStream HP is one of their newer models.
It’s 6.6 inches long. The handle is about 0.875-inch thick, and the lens has an OD of about 2.25 inches. It has a pocket clip, so in theory, you could carry it that way. But it might be a little awkward due to the size of the lens. Think more along the lines of clipping it into a pocket of your EDC bag.

The beam is fairly focused, more of a spotlight than a floodlight. That said, it’ll light up most of the average backyard easily enough.
