Savage Adds .223, .350 Legend and Compact Models to 334 Line

November 7, 2026

Savage is rounding out its budget-friendly Model 334 bolt-action line for 2026, adding two new chamberings and a pair of compact-sized rifles aimed at hunters who want options without paying 110-level prices.

Key points

  • New chamberings: Savage is adding .223 Rem. (20-inch barrel) and .350 Legend (18-inch barrel) to the 334 lineup, joining existing options in .243 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win., .270 Win. and .30-06 Sprg.
  • Compact models: New Compact versions cut length-of-pull to 12.75 inches (from 14.5) and use 18.5-inch barrels (18 inches for .350 Legend), all stocked in Turkish walnut, priced at $629.
  • Same action: Every 334 still runs a three-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw, a detachable box magazine (three rounds standard, five-round extended mags available for $39), and a three-position safety.
  • Build details: Button-rifled carbon-steel barrels free-float with an 11-degree target crown, and rifles ship with a mounted M1913 Picatinny rail; standard models run $459 in synthetic or $629 in walnut.
  • Branding shift: Originally sold under the Stevens name when introduced in 2023, the Turkish-made 334 is now marketed directly as a Savage, per American Rifleman.

Quick take

The 334 was already a solid entry point into centerfire bolt guns, and adding .223 Rem. and .350 Legend makes it more useful for varmint hunters and straight-wall-cartridge states. The Compact models are a practical addition too, giving smaller-framed shooters a proper fit instead of a cut-down adult stock.
