The Thompson TAO50 – Harnessing the .50 BMG

When the discussion on powerful rifles starts, the .50 BMG round ultimately enters the conversation. Known for its ballistic prowess, it is seen as the king of go-far and hit hard. The challenge has always been just how to tame this beast. While the 125-pound M2 machine gun does a decent job of managing this spicy round, we want something a little more portable. Enter the team at Auto Ordnance. Their solution is the Thompson TAO50 in .50 BMG.

The Thompson TAO50 – Harnessing the .50 BMG

The Thompson TAO50 in .50 BMG, manufactured by Auto-Ordnance, is not just a rifle; it’s a tool for dominance over the opposition. Crafted with precision and engineered for power, this bolt-action behemoth is a testament to American ingenuity. Their patent-pending roller bearing bolt and muzzle brake designs, coupled with a rugged black or Flat Dark Earth anodized finish, ensure durability and perfect performance.

With a precision 29” barrel boasting a 1:15 twist rate and a high-efficiency muzzle brake, the TAO50 delivers unmatched accuracy and recoil management. Barrel muzzle end threads are 1”-14. The Barrett M107 muzzle brake or suppressor should not be used on the TAO50, as it is not rated for bolt-action rifles. However, other suppressor manufacturers such as Innovative Arms, Elite Iron, B&T, and HUXWRX utilize 1”-14 threads. Note that recoil will increase when not using the TAO50 muzzle brake.
