The Newest Addition to the Rossi RS22 Line

The RS22 Pistol with folding brace takes a familiar rimfire platform and turns it into a compact, highly adaptable package that is just fun to shoot. Rossi built it around the same action that powers its RS22 rifle line, then shortened things up and added mounting points so you can set it up for plinking, small game, or general range work. Rossi Expanding the RS11 Line – The RS22 Pistol

At the core is a 6 inch, threaded barrel cut 1/2×28. That means common .22 LR suppressors and muzzle devices spin right on without any adapters. Rimfire cans will shine on a platform like this because the action is soft and the overall package remains light. Rossi ships the pistol with a 10 round magazine, and it accepts the same magazines used in RS22 rifles, which makes life easy if you already own one.

Controls are simple and familiar. The RS22 pistol is a semi-auto with a hammer-fired action and a cross-bolt safety. Up top you get an aluminum optics rail for a red dot. In front there is a short accessory rail for a light or laser. Those two rails make the pistol feel more like a compact PCC trainer than a traditional .22 plinker. You can keep it bare for maximum lightness or bolt on what you need for low-light drills and pest control around the property.

Stabilizing Brace

Rossi machined a rear-facing Picatinny section so you can attach a stabilizing brace. The factory  folding brace configuration pairs the pistol with Strike Industries’ FSA brace, which folds for storage and transport. Folded, it tucks the pistol down into a pack or truck console. Unfolded, it adds helpful support and makes the gun easier to manage for new shooters and anyone running fast strings on steel. If you prefer to start bare and add your own brace later, Rossi also sells the pistol without the brace.

The brace model (RS22P6BK-SB) lists an overall length of 22.75 inches and an unloaded weight of 2.23 pounds. The brace-less version (RS22P6BK) trims overall length to 14.06 inches while keeping the same weight and barrel. Both wear a matte black carbon steel barrel and a polymer frame. It is a nice setup that focuses on function and keeps the price within reach.

Cross Compatible

If you already own an RS22 rifle and want a compact companion that shares mags and parts, it is a natural fit.
