The KGM FD 9 Suppressor – Quick Disconnect Innovation

For those deep into the suppressor world, truly “new” things are rare. Yes, there may be a new coating or baffle configuration, but that is the extent of our excitement. That is until now. KGM has made the first moves to bring us something very different: The KGM FD 9 Suppressor, a Quick Disconnect Suppressor.

KGM FD 9 Suppressor

It is a unique design originally designed by Fischer Development in Germany. Contrary to what we generally experience now, the FD9 does not attach to the barrel. Instead, the suppressor attaches to the host weapon via the integral frame rails rather than a threaded barrel. This allows the KGM FD 9 Suppressor to be mounted and removed quickly, and it is accomplished using an innovative and patented latch.

Quick Connect Suppressor

The general information shows that the suppressor will be only one inch wide. It is also made of anodized aluminum alloy for exceptional strength and durability. The suppressor’s design is also low and flat on the top, negating the necessity to add suppressor height sights.

This is a middle-weight suppressor, coming in at 13.4oz. The KGM FD 9 Suppressor is also designed to be adaptable. It can run both subsonic and supersonic ammunition, and it can be run wet or dry. One of the benefits of this suppressor, or suppressors in general, is the mitigation of recoil and muzzle rise.

According to Fischer Development, the FD 9 is currently designed to fit the Glock 17, 19, and 34. They also have a model for the H&K SFP9. KGM anticipates the release of the KGM FD 9 Suppressor early- to mid-2024, if not sooner. The company expects the suppressor to be available in black and FDE color options.
