Sights Set On The Best Upcoming Red Dot Optics

SHOT Show 2026 saw lots of new red (and green) dot offerings from numerous companies. Emerging trends include multi-reticles, motion activation, and streamlined profiles. Some companies are going for smaller, more concealable optics, while others offer larger windows on standard size bases.

We visited every optic booth over a day and a half and identified all the new hotness you need to know about in the world of reflex sights. Some obvious companies are not on this list, either because they don’t have a new offering for 2026 or were not present. There are still plenty of new optical solutions to get excited about. Here they are, in alphabetical order.

The Aimpoint COA enclosed red dot optic, with its proprietary A-Cut mounting interface, isn’t new. But its expanded availability is. The COA and the A-Cut were previously exclusive to Glock pistols. But availability has greatly expanded beginning this year. The complete list has not yet been published, but expect the A-Cut, which is necessary for COA compatibility, to hit most major handgun manufacturers as 2026 unfolds.

Aimwin PE330

Aimwin’s new PE330 offers enclosed emitter reliability with a compact Shield RMSc footprint. It features multi-reticle flexibility and a generous 23x16mm window for good sight pictures and fast transitions.  The PE330 has 9 daylight and 2 night vision brightness settings, and it remembers your last reticle and setting when it powers up. The optic is machined from A6061-T6 aluminum, has a hard-anodized finish, is IPX7 waterproof rated and can withstand 2000G shock.

Shield Sights OMSx

The Shield Sights OMSx (Open Mini Sight XL Lens) is another innovative optic from the UK-based company that developed the Shield RMSc footprint some 30 years ago. The most obvious feature is the optic’s translucent acrylic roof, which increases ambient light, enabling more accurate automatic brightness regulation. It also serves as a high-efficiency reflective surface, improving light return through the lens. This provides a brighter window, increased reticle contrast, and enhanced clarity. Customers can choose from three reticle choices: a 4 or 8 MOA red dot, or a 2 MOA dot in a 65 MOA ring. Varying brightness settings, with night vison compatibility. Shield footprint (obviously). Available soon.

Sightmark Strikon VMP

Sightmark’s Strikon VMP Prism optic is built for rapid target acquisition on defensive rifles. The Strikon VMP features 1-4 magnification and a second focal plane CRF-4 MIL illuminated reticle. It has 11 brightness settings, with two being optimized for night vision compatibility. The optic uses the Aimpoint Micro mounting footprint and works well with offset or piggyback mounts. The Shake Awake function preserves battery life . The lightweight 6061 aluminum housing is IP67 waterproof,, shockproof, and nitrogen purged. Ships with multiple risers, screws sets, throw levers, and a turret tool.

Steiner MPS-C

The Steiner MPS-C is the company’s lightweight concealed carry variant of the proven MPS optic. 40 percent lighter than comparably-sized enclosed emitter red dots, the MPS-C brings that reliability to the carry world. In fact, Steiner notes that the MPS-C is purposely designed for carry, as opposed to adapted from a competition optic. The optic features a 1.6 MOA dot reticle. The side battery compartment makes for easy access.

US Optics RISE

The US Optics RISE (Red dot Integrated Sight Enhancer) is a compact, high-performance red dot sight for full-size and compact handguns. The motion-activated 3 MOA red dot reticle has 10 brightness settings with 2 being night vision compatible. The brightness recall mode ensures instant readiness, and the optic has an impressive 75,000 hour battery life on the lowest setting. The 6061 T6 aluminum housing provides durability and is IP67 waterproof rated. Leupold DeltaPoint Pro footprint.

Viridian Tech MDS25

The Viridian Tech MDS25 is an enclosed emitter green dot rifle optic boasting a 74-percent larger field of view that typical dot optics. Viridian recognizes that the human eye processes the green reticle faster than a red, so a green CQ reticle is the only option. The reticle features Viridian’s Instant-On technology to save battery life, while maintaining readiness. Varying brightness settings with 2 night vision compatible. Durable 6061 aluminum construction. IPX6 waterproof rated. Aimpoint T2 footprint (riser included).

Viridian Tech MDS35

Viridian Tech’s MDS35 claims the largest viewing area of any optic with its 36x36mm objective lens, leading to faster target acquisition in any environment. The green CQ reticle offers faster processing than red dots, while also being easier on the eyes. Eight visible brightness settings with 2 night vision modes. Machined 6061 aluminum construction with hard coat anodization. IPX6 waterproof rated. Aimpoint T2 footprint (riser included).

Viridian Tech RFX 1 Custom Reflex Sight

The sight is streamlined to fit each gun’s contours for a seamless integration without modifications or plates. The RFX 1 weighs only 0.53 ounces. The Instant-On green dot reticle’s auto-brightness sensor adapts instantly to the shooter’s surroundings. The machined 6061 aluminum housing ensures durability and an IPX4 waterproof rating.

Vortex Triumph

Vortex bills their new Triumph rifle red dot as being “no frills,” with an affordable price. But the Triumph has the necessary features shooters want. The motion-activated 2 MOA red dot reticle has 9 brightness settings with lowest 2 being night vision-compatible.Multi-coated lenses and a nitrogen-purged, O-ring sealed housing. Waterproof and shockproof. Unlimited eye relief. Ships with a low mount and a lower-third co-witness mount.

Reflex sights get better every year. Footprints become easier to navigate. Motion activation is now the norm. Multi-reticles give shooters options. Now we even have reticles specifically for folks with vision problems. And gunmakers have gotten the message. Most new semiautomatic handguns, and even some revolvers, are optic ready from the factory. Red dots’ ubiquity has also spurred competition, offering quality options at affordable prices. The red dot market has never been better. 2026 might just be your year to embrace pistol optics. Or if you’re an old hand, check out the new offerings. There’s a lot to like.
