SCT DSC9 – Enhanced Gen 3

The handgun market is full of Glock clones that each offer their own take on an industry cornerstone. Some turn to bling while others turn to the internals, and each has its own appeal. While we tend to dismiss these pistols at times, occasionally one catches my attention. The newest pistol to catch my eye is the SCT DSC9.

SCT DSC9 – More Than Meets the Eye

SCT has been in the gun business since 2013 and has made a name for itself by making aftermarket Glock and AR parts. Their rise to fame with the release of their Gen 3 frame. With that success, they have decided to take all of their craftsmanship to turn it towards a complete pistol.

The SCT DSC9 is a feature-rich, Glock Gen 3 compatible pistol from SCT Manufacturing. It is being marketed as an affordable, enhanced alternative to the standard Glock. It comes with an RMR cut, suppressor height co-witness sights, and Glock 19/23/32 parts compatibility. They have also included a threaded barrel in addition to the standard barrel to sweeten the deal.

Unique Grip

While these individual points make it interesting, it is the grip that caught my attention. SCT makes the gun with a rubber overmold inlay into the grip. The grip is relief cut, and the grip is installed to give it a flush feel and finish. The grip has good texturing with line serrations on the front and backstrap. This grip allows us to get and keep a good purchase on the gun bot during presentation as well as while firing. Gone are the days of skater tape or slip-on rubber grips.

The SCT DSC9 has solid ergonomics and is the beneficiary of a keen engineering eye. SCT has even included a flared billet magwell, extended slide stop, and extended magazine catch. The slide has well-designed cuts and is finished in 416 SS black nitride, heat-treated to HRC 40-42. The details keep on coming with the inclusion of a thumb accelerator pad, oversized trigger guard, and a recessed, contoured mag release area for faster mag changes.

The cliché of “feature-rich” is thrown around a great deal, but the SCT DSC9 is a great example of what that term means.
