When we talk about rifles for urban and home use, the SBR always enters the conversation. Its compact size and ease of maneuverability make it an excellent choice in close quarters. While we have several options in the AR world, the AK family is a little thinner. The team over at Arsenal has changed that, though, with the release of the Arsenal SAM7K SBR.
SAM7K SBR – A New SBR from Arsenal
The Arsenal SAM7K SBR 7.62x39mm is a short-barreled rifle with a milled receiver, 8.5″ cold-hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel, and a threaded front sight block (standard Krink configuration with 24×1.5mm RH threads). It has a CNC-machined aluminum tactical buttstock assembly with 1913 Picatinny attachment, ergonomic ambidextrous cheek rest, 4 QD ports, and a rubber pad.

It includes a FIME-enhanced fire control group, sling, cleaning kit, cleaning rod, oil bottle, thread protector, and a 10-round magazine. Currently, the SBR is available in Black, OD Green, Plum, and Gray (SAM7K-28GY). Color variations include handguards, pistol grip, buttstock, and a 10-round magazine.
Arsenal CNC Machined Aluminum Tactical Buttstock Assembly
Arsenal’s CNC-machined aluminum tactical stock offers improved ergonomics and functionality in a lighter, stronger design. It includes four non-rotating QD points on the stock for precise sling attachment, along with extra cutouts to reduce weight without compromising strength. This stock easily attaches to a 1913 Picatinny rail.
The buttstock body is CNC-machined from a single piece of aluminum. The stock has a cheek weld groove machined on both sides for an ambidextrous fit. All the parts are CNC-machined in-house to ensure consistency. This attention to detail and the manufacturing of these parts in-house have produced a high-quality stock with tight tolerances that is built to last.

Arsenal’s Exclusive Milled and Forged Receiver
Each SAM7K receiver is milled from a hot-die hammer-forged receiver blank by Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria. Other milled receivers are machined from bar stock, but Arsenal’s hot-die hammer forging produces stronger and finer-grained steel. The 5-ton hammer forging process eliminates internal voids and cooling deformations. The forged receiver starts as a blank and requires over 5.5 hours of milling before assembly. This forging and milling process is very complex and time-intensive, but with our meticulous attention to detail, we deliver a receiver of unequalled strength, precision, and durability.
Includes FIME Group Enhanced Fire Control Group
Includes FM-922EUS, the Enhanced Fire Control Group (FCG) for AK- and RPK-based rifles. FIME’s Enhanced FCG includes a single-hook trigger, hammer, disconnector, and disconnector springs.

FIME’s Enhanced Fire Control Group delivers a shorter trigger travel with an extremely smooth, light trigger pull. To prevent lever misfires, the disconnector face makes complete contact with the hammer. Further, the disconnector is engineered with an elongated tail, which makes a full stop on the rear trigger guard rivet, and the hammer stop prevents the hammer from slamming on the trigger. With these two designs functioning together, it eliminates the “trigger slap” found in competing products.
