Immediately upon releasing the Rossi R95 in 30-30, the questions from shooters started coming. When can we get one in .45-70? The good folks over at Taurus and Rossi played this one a little coy and close to the vest, but now shooters get their wish. A new R95 in .45-70 launches today.

First Look at the Rossi R95 Lever-Action in .30-30!

The new Rossi R95 lever-action rifle chambered in .30-30.

The Rossi name dates back to 1889, a legacy spanning more than 130 years of gunmaking. Along the way, Rossi became famous for producing quality, affordable firearms. Owned by Taurus, the folks behind the curtain thought the Rossi brand deserved more. So they’ve put more development behind the brand, pushing to make higher quality firearms befitting of the Rossi name. One of these early efforts comes to fruition with the release of the Rossi R95 lever-action rifle.

The new rifle design attempt to capture the timelessness of the lever-action form, updated with modern features and shooting experience. To go after the old school hunters and purists, the rifle comes chambered in .30-30 Win.

The R95 comes with two available barrel lengths. A 20-inch Classic and 16.5-inch Trapper provide two distinct options. Each comes with a hardwood walnut finish. It utilizes a premium finish, according to Rossi, providing a classic look while protecting the furniture. A hammer forged barrel provides a system built for accuracy and reliability. A 5+1 tubular magazine keeps shooters in the hunt or the fight. A black oxide finish provides corrosion resistance while providing that classic black-on-wood look.

Rossi says the R95 also comes ready for customization, supported by a host of aftermarket accessories upon the launch. Priced at $949.99, the R95 will be immediately competitive in the lever-action rifle market. For even more info, please visit rossiusa.com.

Editor’s Take:

This updated and improved lever-action platform from Rossi comes right on time. We’re currently in a real uptick in lever-gun interest. From “Yellowstone” to Marline resuscitation of Marlin, the lever-action rifle rides again. But many of the available options out there come at a pretty penny. The Marlin Model 336 Classic, in .30-30, retails for $1,239, while the Henry Side Gate Lever Action (Steel) currently retails for $1,057. At $950, the Rossi comes under both of these proven lever-guns, but close enough in price to where it will certainly have to perform.
