GiantMouse Taps into History for New GM Model

GiantMouse Taps into History for New GM Model

GiantMouse has added a new high-end folder to their GM line, the No. 14 “Valleta.” Inspired by tales of heroic adventure, the GM14 smoothly blends a flamboyant blade shape with a roomy, ergonomic handle – all finished off with premium, high-performance materials.

According to the GiantMouse press release, the GM14 comes from the mind of Jesper Voxnaes, one of the company founders and key creative forces behind the brand. While many GiantMouse pieces draw inspiration from the world outside of knives, the GM14’s look is informed by the Maltese fortress city Valletta. Valletta is famous for many things, not least of which its unique, defense-oriented architecture, established as it was during an era where assaults by sea were common. In the modern day, the elements that remain from that time give Valletta an unmistakable air of antique adventure.

The extra-limited bronze inlay model

Voxnaes pays homage to that strain of Valletta’s history with a dashing 3.6-inch blade that, with its elongated clip point that looks more than capable of buckling a swash or two – although in most users’ hands we imagine that it will be relegated to the more mundane, but no less important, day-to-day cutting chores of the average knife enthusiast. Superclean Vanax steel is on hand to deliver performance equal to the impressive profile.

The handle, fashioned primarily from titanium but bolstered on both ends with either Micarta or bronze inlays, is a handful in the best possible way. 4.7 inches long and gently curved, it offers the necessary affordance for the big cutting jobs, without sacrificing control over the small ones. There’s a liner lock under the hood for all your blade securing needs, a reversible pocket clip, and bearings on the pivot to make the blade fling out clean. It weighs 3.9 oz.

It’s available now and limited to 400 pieces for the Micarta model, and just 200 for the bronze.
