America’s 250th Anniversary SR1911: Ruger Celebrates The USA

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, Ruger joins the festivities with a limited-edition patriotic SR1911 model. It is everything you love about the SR1911 taken to the next level. However, as with America’s semiquincentennial, the SR1911 will also have its limit—1776 pieces to be exact.

Building on the iconic 1911 platform, the anniversary SR1911 is appropriately chambered in God’s caliber: .45 ACP. Likewise, 1911 purists will be happy to know that Ruger states that the pistol is built on the “classic, original 1911 fire control.” So, if taken at face value, this model features the Series 70 action.

The low-glare stainless steel frame features a clean, smooth dust cover for a classic presentation. Custom-engraved hardwood grip panels showcase the Ruger logo surrounded by intricate scrollwork and an American flag backdrop. The aggressively checkered backstrap ensures a positive grip for enhanced control during courses of fire. Likewise, the oversized beavertail grip safety and thumb safety provide safe operation.

Housing the 5-inch barrel, the slide is where the story begins. It features attractive, patriotic-themed, laser-engraved murals on each side, celebrating America’s 250-year story.

The right side is set on a backdrop of our founding document, leading into the American flag. Showcasing American military excellence is the Ruger logo centered between revolutionary soldiers on the left and Marines hoisting the flag at Iwo Jima. Intricate scrollwork frames the artwork.

The obverse side of the frame features a backdrop of the American flag surrounded by an American bald eagle and the Statue of Liberty. In the center of the scene is the Liberty Bell, with “Made in the 250th Year of American Liberty” superimposed over it. As with the right side, the mural features a scrollwork frame. The rear of both sides, behind the cocking serrations, is a small panel with scrollwork depicting wheat and stars.

Atop the slide are Drift Adjustable Novak 3-Dot sights. Sending rounds downrange is the aluminum skeletonized trigger with a very crisp, no-creep, light pull and a positive reset. Finally, it includes one 8-round and one 7-round stainless-steel magazine and bushing wrench.

The Ruger America’s 250th Anniversary SR1911 is available now with an MSRP of $1,699.00. But you will want to act fast, as only 1776 will be produced.
