Perhaps you’ve heard that the U.S. National Debt has surpassed another milestone on it’s way to oblivion – 40 trillion and growing. I believe I’ve been warning about this for roughly a decade now, back when it was half as much. But hey, what’s another 20 trillion between friends, am I right?
The problem is that we’re in a much worse financial situation today because of inflation and interest rates and other reasons. And while I’m not the best person to explain it all – I’m not an economist after all – the video below details the “why” rather well. Ultimately, it’s multiple problems coming together at precisely the wrong time.
The questions, as always, are when will it happen and what to do about it. Honestly, I believe we’re screwed as a nation, but mostly because nobody in power wants to actually fix it, and also because of multiple political and personal reasons of those same people in power. And while we may be able to kick the can down the road for years longer, maybe decades for all I know, it’s going to end at some point.
Because I don’t want to be screwed personally when it does, I just keep prepping. Am I doing all the right things? Surely not. But I keep trying, and I keep doing. And I hope you will as well because we’re going to need somebody with some brains to fix things when the time comes.
