Iran Says The Strait of Hormuz “Will Never Be Reopened Through… American Acts of Hostility”

Iran Says The Strait of Hormuz “Will Never Be Reopened Through… American Acts of Hostility”

Iran has warned that during attacks by the United States on Iran and its interests, the Strait of Hormuz will never be reopened. Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General  Mohammad Akraminia said that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) will fight for control of the vital waterway “until their last breath.”

The United States president, Donald Trump, also delusionally claimed that US military forces are “taking over” the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key global energy supply bottleneck. The US would then charge vessels “20% on all cargo shipped” in exchange for protection. Washington would also reinstate its blockade of Iranian ports and bar passage to vessels belonging to Iran or its customers, Trump claimed.

That’s big talk for someone who rolled over and initially surrendered in a war he started. Others have said that this idea amounts to “piracy.”

None Of The Most Important Issues Have Been Resolved By The Memorandum Of Understanding

In fact, Iran even said that this memorandum of understanding, which is an interim peace deal, was a “record of US failure.” If there’s one thing the current administration doesn’t like, it’s failing at war.

The First Secretary of War Loses A War

After American forces conducted another wave of airstrikes against the Islamic Republic, Iran responded.

In retaliation, the IRGC carried out strikes against several United States military facilities in the region, including “weapons storage depots, a satellite communications center,” and the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, according to a report by RT.

Earlier today, US Central Command announced that it was carrying out “the third consecutive night of strikes,” with heavy blasts reported across many regions of Iran.

Trump formally notified Congress of his intention to renew “defensive” strikes against Iran, according to a letter dated Friday and obtained by the New York Times, Politico, and other outlets. The White House argued that the move gives the administration a fresh 60-day timeline before it must seek congressional approval for its warmongering.

That amounts to two more months of war, should the conflict continue to progress.

Perhaps the very reason strikes resumed is that the US ruling class is trying to save face as it stares down the barrel of a lost war.
