Work Tuff Gear’s Latest EDC – The Lightfoot

Work Tuff Gear has a well-established reputation for knives that are pretty much bombproof. Most of their offerings are large and in charge sorts of designs. The Atayal is a great example of that sort of blade. However, when I stopped by their booth at the 2026 SHOT Show, I got a peek at a new model that’s slim, trim, and an ideal EDC option—the Work Tuff Gear Lightfoot.

The Work Tuff Gear Lightfoot

WTG is based in Taichung, Taiwan. It’s a family-owned business that was founded in 2018. Vic Lin, the owner, is passionate about producing high-performance knives and tools that are ready for challenges. The idea is simple. The gear you select to carry and use should be absolutely dependable.

Over the years, WTG has become well-known for producing designs that are functional while also being eye-catching. Nothing says a great quality tool can’t be both.

A Detailed Look

WTG does a lot of collaborations, and the Lightfoot is one of them. It was designed by Jeremy Boulder Valentine from Valvian Edge Craft, LLC. This is a production version of a custom build.

The Lightfoot has an overall length of 6.6 inches, with a small, 2.2-inch cutting edge. This is a full-tang knife, crafted from 0.23-inch-thick Böhler K329 steel. It features a very nice dark-washed finish.

It comes with custom G10 scales that are entirely optional. My set of scales is black, but WTG also offers them in Jade Green. The package comes with everything you need for installation, including screws as well as an Allen wrench.

The carbon fiber sheath has several attachment points. You can easily wear this as a neck knife. They even include a length of paracord to make the lanyard. I usually just drop it in my pocket if I’m going to be carrying it for the day.

I’ve been playing around with the Lightfoot for a couple of months. There’s actually a lot of work you can get done with just a two-inch blade. I’ve used it for cutting cordage, opening and breaking down boxes, and even a bit of feather sticking.

It’s a great slicer, with plenty of belly despite the diminutive blade length. The knife arrived razor sharp, and it has retained that edge quite well.

It’s comfortable in a variety of grips. While I initially carried it bare, I recently added the G10 scales. The deep texture on the scales really adds to the grippiness of the handle. They also provide a bit more bulk to make it comfortable to hold and use for long periods of time.

Interestingly, the scales and hardware add up to about a full ounce. To be honest, I like the bit of additional weight. That said, if I were going to set this up for neck carry, I’d leave the scales off. Not only will the knife be lighter, but it will also lie flatter against the chest.

Given the size, this isn’t something I’d necessarily recommend for any sort of primary defense weapon. But as a utility EDC blade, the Lightfoot ticks a lot of boxes. Highly recommended!
