Federal Ammunition Awarded Contracts to Supply Ammo to Four Canadian Government Agencies

Federal Ammunition has been awarded contracts to supply several Canadian law enforcement organizations with handgun and rifle ammunition for training and duty purposes. The agreements will supply the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Parks Canada, Correctional Services Canada and Canada Border Services Agency with up to 10 million rounds of 9mm training, 9mm duty handgun and .308 Win. rifle ammunition over a 5-year timeframe.
“We, at Federal, provide the top-quality law enforcement and tactical products officers need to have full confidence in any situation, and that’s why we offer several different training and duty loads,” said Peter Gillette, director of Federal Ammunition Government and International Sales. “This contract validates the high trust that international law enforcement agencies have in our highly reliable and innovative product, regarding dependability and terminal ballistics.”
The company is one of the leading global suppliers of ammunition for law enforcement and the military. Less than a year ago it was awarded a contract to provide Mk316 cartridges for U.S. Special Forces. Value of that one-year agreement for the 7.62 mm NATO loads was $3.16 million. Figures for the Canadian purchase were not released.
In late 2023 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security entered into a contract with Federal to purchase up to 28 million .223 Rem. cartridges through 2028. The load selected for officers in the department was the firm’s Law Enforcement Tactical Bonded 62-grain soft-point loads.
The company is also a leader in civilian sales, in some cases offering similar or identical loads to meet the self- and home-defense needs of gun owners. Recently released results from a Southwick Associates survey found that Federal’s rifle, handgun and shotgun ammunition was purchased by gun owners more than any other brand in 2024.
