YouTuber Brandon Herrera for ATF Director? Mmmm, Probably Not; But Would be Funny
On RFK Jr.’s website “Nominees for the People” where people were able to go online and offer their support for nonbinding votes for President-elect Donald Trump’s “unity government” cabinet nominees (actually sounds like something Kamala would call it if she had won), Guntuber Brandon Herrera, aka The AK Guy, is the leading nominee to head up the ATF.
Many people believe even though it’s a tongue in cheek recommendation, Herrera would be a much more reasonable choice than Biden’s current head of the ATF Steven Dettelbach, whose ignorance of basic firearms operation and terms was on full display earlier this year during an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation.
For Herrera, who is funny as hell in many of his videos and tackles such compelling topics as testing the gun that killed Abraham Lincoln, testing Joe Rogan’s JFK bullet theory by shooting a dummy skull and even testing the assassination attempt shot on Donald Trump as well as the Secret Service’s return fire skull-smasher on the would-be assassin, he said he would gladly accept the nomination if Trump offered it.
Herrera, a San Antonio, Texas, resident who “narrowly lost a primary bid to oust incumbent U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales” earlier this year, put some grease on the votes he received according to the San Antonio Current. The Current reports:
So, where did Herrera get the idea to pursue the role of ATF director? Robert F. Kennedy Jr., of course.
In a Wednesday YouTube video, Herrera told viewers that the Nominees for the People website, a crowdsourcing platform run by RFK Jr. prompted him to chase the job. The forum allows people to nominate and vote on who they want to be in charge of government agencies under Trump.
“I don’t know what the actual likelihood of something like this happening is, but my God, this would be one of the most legendary appointments Donald Trump could ever make — and one of the funniest,” Herrera said in the clip. “There’s nothing I’d rather see more than the headquarters of the ATF turned into a f***** Spirit Halloween.”
The clip first aired just a week after Trump won the 2024 presidential election while liberals across the country were whining and bitching about the loss, blaming it on racism and misogyny (I had to look that word up), threatening to cut off their hair, threatening not to have sex with their significant others who may have supported Trump, threatening to uninvite Trump-supporting relatives from Thanksgiving dinner, swearing they were going to move out of the country (please, please do) and basically showing their real colors as the true party of intolerance in America.
“Before we begin this episode of Gun Meme Review, I just really wanted to check in and ask you guys, after the results of last week’s election, how are you doing?” he asked with a concerned look on his face, before busting into a wide grin, “Because I’m doing f***** great baby. Ice cream man is out; McDonald’s man is in. We’re in for a fun four years.”
And if Herrera actually got named as the new ATF director, that fun would only be that much more for gun owners, retailers and manufacturers. When you think about it, in a world where Jake Paul is about to fight former greatest fighter who ever lived Mike Tyson, is it really that far fetched. Elon Musk, after all, is about to become the co-leader of the newly created DOGE!
Other nominees on the website included Gary Sinise (aka Lt. Dan) for Director of Veterans Affairs, Edward Snowden for CIA Director, Alex Jones as Press Secretary and Theo Von for Press Secretary among others.
Check out Herrera’s clip. It’s worth wasting the nine minutes of your life you’ll never get back.
