Century Arms Sharps MB47 – Milled Magic

Few names are as synonymous with the AK47 as Century Arms. They have been producing US-made AK47 rifles for over two decades and are also the largest importer and manufacturer of the platform in the United States. So, I was excited to learn about the new Century Arms Sharps MB47.

Century Arms Sharps MB47

The MB47 is a unique collaboration between Century Arms and John Sharps of Sharps Bros. The product of this collaboration is an exceptional new AK47 centered around a new milled receiver. The MB47 receiver starts its life out as a 15lb solid block of steel. The receiver is then milled down to become the 2lb receiver for the MB47. This process removes all of the flex from the receiver and the firing cycle, which leads to a much more accurate rifle. It also has a manganese phosphate finish and an optic-ready side mount.

The rifle is chambered in the classic 7.62×39 and ships with a US Palm 30-round magazine. Just as you would expect from Century Arms, the MB47 is equipped with premium components. These include the all-new US Palm free-float MLOK handguard and grip and Ultimak gas tube rail. This combo not only looks good but is also very ergonomic.

A Feature Rich Build

The rifle also has an RAK-1 enhanced flat trigger, chevron compensator, 5/8×24 thread fluted and chrome-lined chrome-moly 4150 steel 16.25” barrel, and a Magpul DT carbine stock w/ AR15 mil-spec buffer tube. All of this, set around a milled receiver, makes the gun a premium shooter.

The rifle is feature rich.

Solid Collaboration

“When it came to the next steps for Sharps Bros, we wanted to partner with Century, who we saw as someone who had a generational amount of experience,” said John Sharps of Sharps Bros. “So it was a perfect collaboration opportunity, and two years later, we have the MB47 rifle.” Through this collaboration, the MB47 shows how Generation Meets Innovation!

The MB47 is a great addition to any collection.

The MB47 is more than just a pretty face. A milled receiver makes for an exceptional base from which to build a rifle. If you are looking to get into the AK47 world, the MB47 is an excellent choice.
