Self-Defense In Jacksonville Shooting At Convenience Store

A man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in a self-defense incident in Northwest Jacksonville. The police are investigating the shootout that occurred near Moncrief Road.


JACKSONVILLE, FL (2-minute read) — A man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a Jacksonville shooting on Saturday morning, as reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Around 9 a.m., police responded to Moncrief Road, near its intersection with West 45th Street, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to his arm. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the injured man was a suspect in a prior shooting incident. According to police, the suspect approached his intended victim outside a convenience store and fired several shots, which missed the target. In a turn of events, the intended victim then pulled out their own firearm and fired back, hitting the suspect in the arm.

As of Saturday afternoon, the victim had not returned to the scene nor contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) regarding the incident.
